Analog Pussy are unique in the global trance scene. The closest we’ve got to a psy-celebrity couple, Jiga & Jinno are uncommonly focussed on their mission to spread dynamic, firey tech-trance to the rabid masses who lap up their live shows with gusto. Vinyl Trax is a semi-retrospective collection of tunes, previously unreleased on CD. It’s a rare acknowledgement that the limited access of vinyl-only releases sections off a large chunk of the trance community and in making these tunes available it’s an ideal opportunity for the completist. Ironically though, it’s the newer tracks that shine – older cuts like Space Walk and Generator Man pale in comparison to the recent sophisticated smash Ball Banger and its horror-opera-goa flipside The Lion And The Witch. Similarly Hanging Myself Comfortably and Discotek don’t have the depth of Audio Santo Rmx or Tails From The Crypt, from the acclaimed Underground album. What we’re essentially left with then is the magnificent Ball Banger 12", released on a CD, with some sparse trancers that chart the development of the Analog Pussy sound, but don’t match up to their more stylish, tested newer material. And as such it doesn’t represent great value for money. One for completists and diehards only.
