Ball Banger / The Lion + The Witch - AP Records

Analog Pussy continue their onslaught on the global trance circuit with this taster 12" from their forthcoming Vinyl Trax CD. Ball Banger starts with a freaky phased intro, an analog swirl bassline and very meaty kick. A dark synth riff comes in and makes for a very punky kind of vibe – an electronic Sex Pistols with bags of energy, phased noises everywhere and a philtered shy melody coming in at the end to offset the vibe. It’s got tons of attitude and begs to be cranked up on a huge system. The Lion + The Witch is less effective, but it’s interesting: it’s almost like it takes a good house record and drags it kicking and screaming through a psychedelic blender. Its double-phased bluesy bassline is unusual and it builds into an all-star mashup with tons going on.
