Crash Crash – Psy-Harmonics
Snog
This is dirtier than the contents of psyreviews’ secret dwarf porn folder. Taken from the forthcoming album Snog Vs The Faecal Juggernaut Of Mass Culture (really), it’s not desperately unlike Aphex Twin doing a karaoke of the Stones’ Jumpin’ Jack Flash. The original version is a messy, punky affair – a track you wouldn’t want to leave your girlfriend alone in a room with. Crash Crash vs Tim Real sounds less like being stalked by a gang of paedophiles, more in the territory of a glitchy Elastica underpinned by a tight, edgy rhythm section. Crash Crash vs Tim Wright is filthy two-step with added Ginger Baker, while Crash Crash vs 8 Bit Apocalypse is pure nintendocore-on-toast with the sort of 303 abuse that should be reported to the authorities. Turn On Your Brain Baby is delightfully quirky, reminding me in places of a more XXX-rated Primal Scream. Deep amyl techno. Finally there’s an acoustic version of King Of Hate, a cracking tune for post-pub, post-relationship, post-funeral, or post-coital. Here David Thrussell’s voice takes on a chillingly compulsive new presence; I’m not sure I’d really want him in my room singing to me, but the lyrics and delivery sound great. A cross between Sid Vicious and Nick Cave, with a botched Robocop-esque cyborg reconstruction going on. Puzzlingly delightful.
TWISTED RECORDS ACCIDENTALLY CHANGES HYPERLINK ON WEBSITE, SENDS TRANCE COMMUNITY INTO EMBARASSINGLY FROTHING PROLAPSE
LONDON (AFP) - Panic on the streets of London, vomit on the streets of Birmingham. London-based Twisted Records, world's busiest record label releasing an average of two CD's per week for the last eleven years, sent psytrances rippling through the shockwave community last week by accidentally updating their website.
The label, who in truth haven't released anything since... erm, was it Unusual Suspects 2?.... (yeah, I think so. Wasn't bad but I still prefer the first one, dunno why. Maybe it's cos it's got that Prometheus track on it, know the one I mean? Can't remember the name. The slow one) declined to comment on the matter.
It is understood (i.e. made up) that the label's webmaster wanted to remove from the "links" page a redirect pointing to the website of a popular French artist who used to be a mate, but is now an arsehole because he's not sharing unreleased killas with anyone anymore.
The psytrance community interpreted the update as a signal that the new Hallucinogen vs Shpongle album was about to be released.
Three were hospitalised and while two have been released, one is still said to be in intensive care.
UNCYCLOPEDIA
It's old, it's been done before, it's psytrance!!!
Pretty much every week someone emails in with this, and i'm more or less including it here to farken well stop them from doing it again this week, which they probably still will.
Psytrance, Infected Mushroom, Terance McKenna, all lampooned deftly.
Interestingly Skazi has had his page removed. The reason given that "it never contained more than one sentence," a fact which I hope will disprove psyreviews' having any involvement in any of these articles whatsoever.
