Future Navigators 3 Spectrum

Okay, well psyreviews appreciates that this isn't exactly current -- it hit the shelves at the end of last year -- but psyreviews has been travelling, children, and this means that 'new' and 'old' are less important. Particularly when you're mostly skint as well. (Yes, I hope the labels are listening.) Anyway, crash bang wallop what an album basically, SOS vs Wrecked Machines kicks it into gear with Weird Texture, and right away you know this album's gonna be a good'un: smooth WM style and the perfect amount of crunch. Chemical Stream are up next with Nuclear Disco, a new name for me and I'm in the unusual state of being impressed by two tunes in one day. Yes, I know. The production's as clear as a Saint's conscience, it moves gorgeously, it does the housework and it can get you laid. Wrecked Machines' See You Later is a more raucous, excessive, gargantuan stompastompa, while Juvenile vs Bushman's The Swarm is an efective and enjoyable outdoor knees-up. Atomic Pulse's remix of Skazi's anthemic Fire & Ice retains the original's stadium rawk qualities nicely, and even with a standard-ish b assline underneath the effect's pretty yummy. Mr. Pulse is back again, this time with Perplex, and what a marriage of styles this one is -- atomic's backbone is solid and meaty, and perplex's ticklish nu-clear topend flurries are as tasty as Rachael Hunter served with chocolate chips and tinned peaches. Delerious' Silver Sky is tasty, yeah it's melodic and yeah it's fluffy, now stop moaning and let the rest of us have a dance. This would utterly destroy a dancefloor at the right time, oh yes. Pop Stream's Impact is ubermelodic, but fing fantastic. I mean it really works. Again you may say this is too much (point taken, now f** off), but could this be the rushiest melodies since the likes of Jaia and The Muses Rapt? Chemical Stream's Star Dust closes the album, and er... despite earlier comments, this is too melodic. Even the feta cheese in my fridge walked out in protest. Huge NRG vibes make you ask all sorts of questions: What's this doing on this album? Christ, am I gay? Why's this glowstick in my hand? Perplexing quandries aside, this is a top notch album, packed to the rafters with meaty goodness and if you buy it now, it comes with free air conditioning and free insurance
for a year. Hey up, the pills are kicking in.
