After catching the first DIz album last year i was eager to hear how they have progressed and let me say that i am impressed. The production has come on a lot - with each part of the tune much more defined in the whole and having a much more established presence throughout. Coming straight from our neighbours in the global village over in the USofA brings images to my mind of hearing this music in the deep desert beneath the burning effigy of a giant man - good job that's actually happened otherwise i think questions could well be asked. So, the music: well this is powerful dancefloor material which doesn't shy away from a healthy dose of meaningful interludes in the form of philosophical vocals and track names like Beyond Time and Eye of the Kosmos. The music establishes itself like a juggernaut steaming down one of those long, straight highways you wouldn't be surprised to find Hunter S. Thompson carrering down - we're not talking deeply psychedelic twisters here - the progression is linear and the arrangements contain few surprises in the way they unfold - The atmospheres are balanced perfectly between light and dark for smould ering effect, and while the soundstage could be wider the crunchy smeralog pounds along hitting all the right frequencies. The basslines wobble and pound like a threatening blamange and DIZ are certainly not scared of buzzsaw riffs. I like this and while I would like a deeper excursion into the sonic lanscapes that DIZ create to go with the deep subject matter of the vocals I for one would be very happy indeed if these guys were piloting the rig which leads through the night.
