Purple Passion Festival of Life Trancelucent (Israel)
Bit of a concept album this one, and a hell of a lot more than just a collection of dancefloor tunage. There are a couple of stompers here but the rest of the cd is a blend of downtempo beats and progressive thumpers. There is some real musical depth on show here as all sorts of influences and instruments are woven together. As a whole the cd has quite an ethnic vibe to it, and there is always plenty going on in the soundscape. The title track opens in a laid back manner with gently rattling cymbals and tribal calls into the ether. Overnight Shatabdi builds into a nice groover, Insha'llah creates a darker industrial atmosphere with strains of haunting melodies and harsh sweeps and this is sustained into The Call Of The Wild. Deep Purple is probably the dirtiest tune here and worth a place in any spacey rumbling set. Overall this has a style all of its own and real musical content :)
