Various Psybration AP Records (Germany)

Starting out is Manley from Kuro - a Dark, Evil, thrashing bit of Tech-Trance, very powerful. Scary stuff. Next up is Qlap’s Went mental in Mexico: I liked the furious percussions in the background, combined with the nice melodies and the tribal singing samples. Real dancefloor stomper. This CD is off to a great start. Tegma’s Tabla sounds, well, it sounds just like every other Tegma track I've heard. Empty and boring. I just feel like you can just skim though the track and hear the same exact sounds at any random point. Sorry. Moving on swiftly to Codex, a new name for me, A State of Flux is number 5 and I like the way it starts. Some cool fresh sounds, nice and psychedelic. Just the way I like my minimal! Cosmo Chaos’ Ghost Inside Wired is up next... and this is where things start to get crazy. Starts out like another progressive full on track that we have been hearing so much of lately. But wait! What's that? Are those GOA sounds I hear? Yeah Baby, 1996! Seriously though, this is one funky track. Reminds me of the classic stuff, but a lot cleaner and better produced. I dig this one a lot. I just wish I had a bigger stereo to enjoy it with: like 40,000 watts bigger. DJ's check it out. After that maddness comes Etnoscope with Das Fug: These guys are now officially my favourite new act of 2002. They don't waste any time at all with this number, getting straight down to business. They really like playing with those drums. After about 3 minutes of drumming they start breaking things down with some nice psychedelic effects all around you. And then, boom 180 degrees. Wow. These guys are on fire. Great morning stuff here. The drums don't stop. Although they might have dragged it just a little bit too long... Regardless, I want more. All in all then, this is a very eclectic CD. It stands above a lot of other compilations out there on its sheer diversity; you get to hear every kind of psy-trance the genre has to offer.
