Various Unity Dub's Voyage to Paradise (Liquid Sound Design)

Psy-dub here on Liquid Sound Design (Dragonfly's downtempo label) perfect for post-club chilling, or just to relax to. The tune selection is great with some anthemic tunes alongside a good collection of dubby-vibes, all mixed perfectly by Unity Dub. It all starts off with waves breaking gently on to the beach, then a nice bassline comes in. Some pipes echo gently over the top as the tune ambles along. Shpongle's A New Way To Say Hooray arrives seamlessly and its the well heard "so, you take let us assume a third toke..." sample, before it breaks into glorious tribal chanting. You can picture this being called out into the desert by a nomadic group around the campfire - there's a really special, spiritual vibe to the whole tune. A really laid back piano riff and gently falling bells make up the next tune from Mere Mortals. Zen Lemonade’s Die Ashanti keeps the laid back dubby vibe, and then...Dr. Who! The first strains of the theme tune from the 60s tv show slowly build into the mix and then... :) sweet! This tune from the Chillage People was recorded live at Destination Venus, and is simply wonderful. The theme is reconstructed using several different instruments and given a warm, loving underbelly. The way the tune ties together is sublime and one of the quirky highlights of the down tempo releases this year. Next up is Global Youth who offers up a fairly linear dub workout with gentle acid stabs, and then its Cleaning Fluid from the East Of The River Ganges. This is another fantastic tune and has a real desert vibe to it. Strings float above the melodic bass and there are all sorts of ethnic influences and instruments woven into its fabric. Dub Mix Convention and UVX are up next, and Groove Corporation closes the cd with a nice techish tune.
