And step forth a new genre. Green Oms is Dick Trevor of seminal psy groundbreakers Green Nuns of the Revolution and Aquatec label boss John Petit, and the new outfit brings psychedelic elements to a clean, energetic form of sleek trance-house that’s destined to rock it big style. Hear and Now is a hardly there, ephemeral spacey number with an infectious groove that emerges from the clear and cool backdrop, and it’s hard to shake. Check Out Girl is absolute class, a funky and dirty backbone with deliciously huggable progressive stabs, with tickly acid runs poking their heads out the water. Snare rolls (yay!) and escalating sounds are chucked in to make a real boiling-over vibe, with acid everywhere and a fluidity that’s hard to come by… sheer class. Jack In The Box has a harder psychedelic edge with tickly schitzo effects over a rocketfuel rhythm section, and Porn Engineers takes more fluid acid and layers it perfectly around clean-sounding runs for a real bread and butter bit of trance. Murphy’s Lore builds up to a deep breakdown with echoes of London hardhouse, then lies off into a reverbed run with deliciously Jam & Spoon touches towards the end. Unwashed is an epic bit of run-to-the-sun, landscape trance that really takes you on a journey from the track’s start  to finish, and summer favourite Mr Boing sticks cutsaws over the top of bouncey (hence the name) powerful trance. Hoover Groover is a clattering, crashing end of level guardian with everything in the right place to increase the tension time and time again, with the final run being an ecstatic arms in the air trance moment that’s simply delicious. Cricklewood Crickets drops the tempo and adds a liberal smattering of shuffle for an intro that sets up perfectly for a lazy, laconic morning groover. All in all this is a likeable album and well worth a sniff – the sound is uniquely their own, and steering clear of traditional genre cliches. Intelligent, good fun, and nicely produced, this deserves to be one of the albums of the year.
