H.S. Oregano / Landscape Bazooka 10 (Germany)
H.S. is Har-El Prusky (California Sunshine, Adrenalin Drum)and Sharon Jackobson, and this release on Bazooka 10 is an oddity. Oregano has a linear, clubby texture but it more than meets the eye. The sounds evolve and morph like vintage R&S / Soma techno, and its hugely listenable with generous, immaculately-produced pads, happy twists and nice filters. The sort of thing you might dance to at dawn, with the sun warming up your face. Its nostalgic in a Jam & Spoon way, whereas Landscape on the flip is an embarassment. Its darker and has a real Berlin feel to it, a menacing low end and a high-end that juxtaposes it. The effect here is really one that should have come out years ago theres nothing here that would date it past 1993, and while thats he reason you love Oregano, here its just dull.
