Etnica Alien Protein Inpsyde Media (Italy)

Wonderful Italian label Inpsyde releases the first of their signings from the legendary and sorely-missed Blue Room, and what a way to start. Etnica’s stamp on the psychedelic scene has been diluted now as second- and third-generation artists have come and gone, but immediately this album reinforces how much an impact they made – Screaming Butterfly sounds every bit as direct and effective as it did then, Party Droid will always be a favourite and Starship 101 captures the spirit of first-generation goa perfectly. Perhaps the best-loved of all of these is Trip Tonite, which makes a lot of long term psy nutters go glassy eyed…whatever, they’re all here and judging by the popularity of ebay auctions for the original, the availability on Inpsyde Media is a good thing for the trance scene.
