New Israeli label Domo Records step forth with their debut, coming hot on the heels of the debut single from Triac (check below.) Farbstifte from new act Colours is a tight, neatly-progressing tune that has more psychedelic elements than a lot of the straight-set progressive stuff out there. Subtle acid punches blend neatly with housey percussion, and it all shuffles along nicely. BLT & DJ Nadi’s The Door Part 1 is cool as anything, it pans all over the place and never sits still, the bassline is tight as hell, the percussion rattles around nicely and the breakdown is a real sonic mashup. The final section is led by a off-hinged, distorted acidline that makes for an ideal transition point in the mix from the more laid-back stuff into the real mr. whippy business. Paste has quite a following after some quality releases lately, and Fever follows the thread nicely. It’s sparse technoid trance with moments of terror, all held together by a squelchy, moody rhythm section. Triplex’s Pi Kai Fi raises the ante when it comes to the sweaty, dark mentalness that seems to be characterising this week’s reviews, there’s a lot of clever little stabs and runs throughout and it has the vibe of scooby-doo style baddies at every corner. Wicked stuff, perfectly-layered and well-executed. Sink from Triac has a long desolate intro that sets the flavour nicely for its future-fear sci-fright vibe. Industrial, clattering trance with a noiseless break followed by superb genius business that sounds like explosions in deep space. Check out the single review below. Yumade’s Le Reel Simplifie, featured on the recent Klanguage compilation, fits nicely into the flow with more industrial tinges yet retaining a good bounce and has its effect tripled by following that gem from Triac. Darwish by Darwish (or is that the other way around) injects some funk into proceedings,  stripped-down and slinky with an almost disco-bassline, while second offering from Colours Tuc Tuc has a bass-heavy electro vibe with a laid-back, simmering effect. Finally Rumpelkammer from Insane Creation is a nice plump goose of danceable progressive stuff, with happy acid flecks making a nice conclusion to the album. This is great stuff, a genuinely fresh perspective on the progressive side of things with more innovation than you can shake a stick at. Keep an eye on Domo, and especially on Triac.
