Oryx Naptune / Once Upon A Time Tatsu (Germany)

This record is like one of those old 78’s, it’s pressed on ludicrously heavy vinyl that ought to carry a government health warning... luckily though it’s all in aid of damn fine sound, and the production on here is crisp, warm and snug... a vinyl lover’s dream. Naptune is mellow and  exp[ertly laid down, all the percussion is in the right place. It’s got one foot in the progressive stable, one in the happy dancing full on good time ol’ fashioned goa, in other words something for everybody with mad creaks, twists and turns, all layered nicely in that seamless Germanic style. Once Upon A Time is given the remix treatment, and starting off quite thunky and darkish, it opens out into a deep, low-filtered brooder that mixes in perfectly. Top stuff and ludicrously addictive.
