Israeli Pitch Process - Dance N Dust Israel
Various Artists
DJ Asheruns new label Dance N Dust debut with this scary nighttime album. Its worth mentioning that this features some nice cover artwork though I have to admit, it wouldnt encourage me to play this CD when in a nasty bout of chemically-induced paranoia. And its also worth mentioning that despite the name, only two of the nine artists featured come from Israel making for a nice 70-minute journey round the psychedelic globe. ELFs Elastich is a damn nice opener, its fully twistified, with good structure and top-notch production. Its got a cute and percussive melody thats awesome while being restrained enough to not go over the top. Insect Suns Listen has a good balance of melody and funk, with all the bits in the right places, like it a lot. Triplexs and Sweirds offerings are dark forest psychopath chase music, while LABs Puzzle is a dark little number that builds up the intensity perfectly creating a very unique atmosphere. Dogma 3000s E2 and PPS Projects Spectral Beats are frightening, harsh peak-time tunes and Sweird returns with Techno Weird that has a lot of Detroit-y elements and has a pleasant, smiling quirkiness to it. Some good stuff, but definitely suited more to the midnight druidic hobgoblin encounters (i.e. scary tunes). 3
