Open The Sky - Dragonfly

As one of the better tracks on Dragonfly’s recent A Better Life Through Chemistry, Transparent’s Open The Sky has been cropping up in psychedelic and progressive sets all over. And the vinyl release is timely, as this has got to be one of the most crowd-happy tunes to come out in a long while. The effortless way it builds up to that awesome and instantly memorable synth riff is sheer class, and the subtle filters and phases on that killer lead line make for a fluid, motion-happy sound. Darshan’s remix on the flip is altogether a different kettle of fish – there’s more going on, and it’s a beefier kick still maintaining that crossover between psychedelic and progressive goodness. It’s simple high-end gated melody run at the peak is sublime, this will have the crowd not knowing where they are, it’s that otherworldly. The close is wonderful, and it sits perfectly in the mix, and DJ’s should note that both these tunes re very very long, giving ample time to smoke a cigarette or nip to the bar mid-mix.

Would you believe that after embarassing myself by waxing lyrical about top 10's that feature nothing but unreleased tracks, TWO people sent in Top 10's featuring all or mostly unreleased tracks!
