This is good. Certainly its not been far from my ears since it arrived. With a cheeky bit of cover art from Nick Doof, and the CD graphics featuring a big TIP shiva made up of little coloured TIP shivas (joy!), it felt for a moment that it was 1996 again. And in a way, this album does manage to turn the trance macroscope in on itself, picking up a history of Tips addictive, brainbubble sound. Most importantly, however, this serves as a smacking reminder of what this scenes all about energetic, lysergic, rocket-fuel music thats unpretentious, grin-making and most importantly of all, a bloody good laugh. Rajas mix, mastered by Benji Vaughan (Prometheus), picks up early Tip offerings from The Infinity Project and Hallucinogen, and via Talamasca and a cheekily reworked Out Here We Are Stoned from E-Rection, smacks right up to date with GMS, Shpongle, Logic Bomb and Zorba. But this album is so much more than the sum of its parts littered with samples from Rajas digital history (and then some) its a colourful, kaleidoscopic, never-sits-still mix all through which, one assumes, Raja was pissing himself laughing and having a jolly wonderful time. Which, as I said earlier, is exactly what the scenes all about.
