Hyperactive - 3D Vision

My apologies, folks, for not bringing this to your attention earlier. It’s been out since October last year, but as I’ve only just caught it, it’s got to be mentioned here as it deserves a place in every psy-head’s collection. The menu tonight is full-on, full-power trance that you’d expect from 3D Vision, and this album is as ballsy and danceable as they come. Gladiator sets things off, and once that guitar comes in, it just goes mental, with its cut up vocals and warpy noise madness. You are Mutant is real visual kaleidoscopic trance with a smooth edge and a wonderful synth line. Schyzo has a dangerous number of layers building up and up until it lifts the lid off your brain, and Spaceship Trippers is a bouncy number with a killer synth riff. Stay Clear is a 303-driven, hardfloor-esque hardhousey slice of mayhem, and the simple but direct melody of Demons is gorgeous and sits nicely in the mix. Revolution sets off in a digidub intro, then graduates into a 4-4 driven percussive number with loads of attitude and one hell of a bassline. The result is one of the best full power trance albums ever, and perfect for those who find the more minimal and progressive flavours a bit lacking.
