Various Custom File Exogenic (Finland)

Anybody unfamiliar with the Exogenic sound will be blown away by this release. The rest of us will also be blown away – hell, it’s just that kind of album. Their third compilation kicks off with Flum Gum, a chunky pience of peak time nutter-stomp from Sienis, and continues with the Exogenic trance-in-a-blender sound courtesy of After Party from Salakavala. Squaremeat’s Pro Purenta starts with a Homer Simpson sample – always a good sign – and escalates into mayhem with high-end Buck Rogers lasergun stabs, fucked up vocals and a wonderful melody. Always Now from Huopatossu Mononen takes a sublime guitar sample and uses it to great effect over a top-notch bassline, creating a unique futuristic morning tune that is sure to get them smiling. OOK’s Wool Fields is trance to the power of ten – think the classic Astral Projection sound, add steriods and crystal meth, and turn the intensity and humour dials all the way up, and you’re there. Closing track is the classic and imposible to find Back to Mad from Texas Faggot, released here for thr first time on CD. This was one of the earliest tunes to use that crunchy guitar that’s appearing so much lately, and mixes it with fat squelches, uber-hardcore vocal samples, and more groove than a james bown impersonators’ conference. Top notch all the way, this is as damn near essential as albums come.
