Yahel Private Collection EP Hom-Mega (Israel)

New for 2002 comes a very likeable 12" from Spiral Trax that sees Antix and Sebastian Krüger (Tarsis) lay down some rolling organic trance. Bushrock builds nicely in the smooth Scando fashion that Spiral Trax pull of so well, and with good percussion and smooth hypnotic vocal samples it’s a winner and sits nicely in the mix. The Seed has a great sound to it, while its rhythm section is pure linear glory. Max-reverb effects make for a nice and smooth dubby finish. (7/10) DB

Yahel kicks of 2002 in his own style with this EP from the Private Colection album. Bomb Creator is quite clubby, not bad in itself but purist psy fans will be disappointed. Crystal Blue doesn’t work for me, it’s good in its minimal way and use of progressive stabe, but the melody is too simple and by the time it’s peaking there’s too much deja-vu to do the tune any justice. Tribal Maker saves things though, with its psychedelic blend of kicking rhythm section, twisty noises and bags of energy before it lifts you into a very organic trance nirvana. Not bad then, but we know that Yahel is capable of so much more... (5/10) DB
